Sharpen your UI judgment

Advanced UI is an 8-week course for experienced designers—sharpen your judgment, elevate your craft, and design interfaces that feel as good as they look, no matter the tools you use.

A cohort-based experience—small learner groups of 6–8 designers, guided by Nevan, who will both teach you and challenge your decisions in live, structured critique sessions.

Practical by design—learn through a mix of text, images, videos, interactive content, live workshops, hands-on exercises and weekly projects.

Expect to spend ~10 hours per week moving through content, designing, iterating, and taking part in live sessions.

What you’ll learn

Develop the ever-green skills that define senior-level UI design

  • Spot and refine UI details like spacing, alignment, and contrast that shape how interfaces feel

  • Make confident, intentional visual decisions that improve clarity, balance, and usability

  • Look beyond surface polish to understand the underlying structure of UI designs

  • Use “x-ray vision” to diagnose and improve UI structure, not just visual detail

  • Create adaptive interfaces that respond to real human behavior over minutes, days, and teams

  • Anticipate friction, handoffs, and edge cases in multi-step and multi-user experiences

  • Synthesize the three 'visions' into a cohesive, end-to-end UI solution—choose one of our curated options or bring your own real-world brief

  • Produce a polished, portfolio-ready capstone that demonstrates advanced UI craft and decision-making

Testimonials

  • This course pushed me out of my comfort zone in the best way, showing me that designing interfaces goes beyond design systems and pixel-perfect layouts—there are layers of complexity that require a more strategic approach.

The three vision frameworks—Laser, X-Ray, and Time-Lapse—gave me structured methods to tackle these layers through interactive, engaging exercises. While the course is software-agnostic, expect to work with your prototyping tool of choice—that's where the principles really come alive.

Time-Lapse Vision especially strengthened my practice, helping me design user journeys and transitions with more deliberate intention and systematic thinking.
