Course overview

Get comfortable with designing and advocating for accessibility

Applied Accessibility for Designers is the course I wish I had when starting my accessibility journey.

I've created a comprehensive, cohort-based course that empowers designers with the practical skills and advocacy techniques to build inclusive and accessible digital experiences. This course delves deeper into designing for accessibility, offering hands-on projects, expert-led discussions, and collaborative sessions to ensure you can effectively integrate knowledge from lessons and advocate for accessibility in your professional roles.

I'm Soren, a design leader and accessibility specialist with disabilities. I'm ready to share my tested techniques, which I've developed through personal, professional, and academic study of design and disability. We'll also dive into the deeper end advocating for accessibility with peers and decision-makers in organizations.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

1. Understand the principles and guidelines of digital accessibility.

2. Implement accessible design practices in UX design.

3. Conduct accessibility audits and usability testing.

4. Create accessible design systems and components.

5. Advocate for accessibility within their organizations.

6. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure inclusive product development.

7. Stay updated on emerging trends and technologies in accessibility.

This class consists of 90-minute live lessons, a 15-minute break, an additional Q&A session (optional), and take-home assignments.

The Q&A sessions are open-ended but will likely focus on the week's lessons or assignment follow-up.
