Course overview
This is a case-based course that takes you behind the scenes of real-world product successes and failures. Get into the minds of product managers in hard situations, and work through the strategies, insights and mistakes they made - in the process supercharging your own skills and building your playbook.
Based on real products and situations, expect a lot of discussion with the instructor and your peers as we work through different challenges PMs have - product strategy, communication, execution and career management - pushing your thinking and equipping yourself with the skills to advance your career.
01
Ambitious Product leaders (PM, UX, Eng, Ops) who need to upgrade their playbook and mental models to make better decisions and succeed.
02
Senior/Group PMs and Directors who want to up-level strategy, influence, communication and career decision-making.
03
People who want to connect with other elite PMs - share war stories and pro tips. Unlock the next level of leadership! Open Q&A each week.
Work across 4 sessions on cases based on real world PM experiences
Discuss situations that real PMs faced - cases on
Strategy: Understand the complexity of growing a product dependent on an ecosystem
The first case will work through bets to grow a nascent product dependent on different kinds of partners and complex distribution to grow - and will ask if the product should survive at all.
The class will equip you with a mental model for ecosystem and partner dynamics.
Product Execution: Understand how to identify metrics for a complex product and trade-offs to drive that metric
The second case will cover defining the right metrics for an established and a new product, and we'll work through how to drive that metric and the trade-offs it will involve.
The class will equip you with tools and principles to pick and drive metrics for your products.
Risk: How to quantify it and be bold, while being smart and ambitious
The third class will cover a couple of examples of PM being faced with risk - partner, legal and regulatory.
You will leave with inspiration and frameworks on how to make bold bets under pressure and trying circumstances.
Career Management: How to think about your next move and the moves after that...
In the final class, we'll look at three examples of people making career decisions on what to do next, and learn from their choices.
Leave with tools to evaluate how to pick the next project, next job and even a new job function.
